Last Week of Preschool, Our 1st 5K, and a Goodbye

Last Thursday we had family pictures taken. It was pretty entertaining, behind the camera, that is. It was a lot of fun and Andrew and Allison had a big "little" surprise for us during the pictures. They are expecting BABY #4! Allison's sister Lissy has her own photography business and was able to do our pictures for us - She did a great job. the pictures look great. Lauren had a big week this last week. This was Lauren's last week in preschool. On Wednesday her teachers had a field day for the kids. My job is just 5minutes from Lauren's school so I ran over to watch. It was so cute. The teachers put together a few races for the kids and a soccer kick and frisbee throw, oh, and a dandilion picking contest :). All the kids got medals and ribbons. Lauren was very proud of hers. Thursday was Lauren's last day of school. They were suppose to have a water day, but unfortuately when we got up Thursday morning it was raining. I went ahead and packed Lauren's swimsuit in case the sun came out- it didn't, but all the kids still got to put on their suits anyway. They also got to have Happy Meals for lunch that day. Check out "Lauren's Short Stories" on the right for that story. Brad and I were really glad we decided to put Lauren in the Preschool during our time here in north Missouri. She has learned so much, she has even started reading some. It's hard to believe, and really exciting that come September she will be starting Kindergarten.

This morning Brad and I got up bright and early and drove to Trenton, MO to run in our first 5k. I always get really nervous before stuff, so I think I was driving Brad a little crazy on our hour and 20 minute drive there, cause he just wanted to relax. Anyway we finally got there and signed in and pinned on our numbers. The race was a lot of fun, and we definately want to run another one, which is good because Bridgewood (the church we are going to in MI) is having one in the end of July. The race route had a lot of hills, so that was tough. Brad finished ahead of me and did really great, I ran the whole race (which was my goal) and I was happy with my time.

A sad note... My grandma, Granny B, passed away today. She was 90 years old, and about 2 or 3 weeks ago the doctors found out that she had a cancerous tumor in her stomach. Brad, Lauren and I were able go down last weekend to see her and have lunch with her, my parents and uncle. I'm really glad that we had the chance to go see her one more time. She was a really great Granny B, and these last few weeks my mind has been flooded with so many happy and fun memories that she made with us. Love her!

Lauren's Short Stories

Today was Lauren's last day of preschool. Her class was getting Happy Meals for lunch and she was so excited. When I picked her up from school I asked her how her Happy Meal was. She told me what she ate and then I asked if she got chocolate milk. She told me that a kid was running and spilled her milk and she didn't get any. Then she said. "that's ok, I didn't mind." What a maturity for a 4 year old. 6/2/11

Lauren was explaining to her Granny that she wore her horse shirt to her race today,"because horses run fast, but some of the girls ran like momma horses and I ran like a foal horse." 4/30/11

Brad talked me into letting Lauren have gum this weekend, since we were flying and it would help her ears. So I gave her some gum when we got on the plane and after about 5 minutes she looks at me and says - "Do you always chew gum this long?" 4/17/11

I stepped on the scale this week to weigh myself and Lauren was standing there. When she saw the number that popped up, she said, "Whoa that's bigger than God!" 3/3/11

Lauren's prayer last night: " Thank you Jesus for creating the whole world, thank you for all the amazing things you do. Thank you, Jesus for healing my baby brother. Amen." A perfect prayer to help heal this mother's heart. We lost our little Owen two months ago today. 1/26/11

I woke Lauren up the other morning and she told me she was still so sleepy her "eyes won't even open". 1/17/11

While wrapping glasses and packing them in a box on Wednesday, Lauren came to see what I was doing. I told her I was packing the glasses so they wouldn't break. She told me that I was really good at that, and I was good at a lot of things. Then she said that she was good at something that I was not good at. I asked her what that was and she replied. " Making a mess." 12/23/10

Lauren's Sunday School teacher gave her a picture of everyone in the class (all of Lauren's friends) since it was her last day. When Brad went to pick her up from class she showed it to him and he got a little choked up, and Lauren looked at him and said " ha ha, Got you dad!" 12/19/10

Our sweet Lauren crawled up on her daddy's lap today, gave him a hug and said, "Hey daddy I have something for you." And then tooted on his leg while giggling. 12/7/10

Lauren told Brad and I that Tinker Bell has a tv in her bedroom and she wants a tv in her room too. We told her she could not have one, but she still thought that she should get one, cause Tinker Bell has one. We then told her she could have one when she is a grown-up with her own home and can buy one herself. Her response to us was - "Ok, but I'm going to be a teenager first." 12/4/10

Things that Lauren said she was thankful for:
-When Mommy helps her pick up her toys.
-Daddy, "because we're buddies!"
-All of her cousins.
-When Granny takes her, Ellie, and Jackson to play at Burger King.
-That her Papa works so hard, so she doesn't have to.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! 11/26/10

Brad was going out to hunt today and as he was telling Lauren and I "bye", Lauren said, "Bye Dad, I hope you get that 30 point buck." And when he got back from hunting she said, "You didn't get your 30 point buck? That's OK, you just have to keep practicing." I guess she has been paying attention to us joking about the song "30 Point Buck" and has taken it literally. 11/21/10

Brad and Lauren needed to get their flu shots, so we stopped by Sam's to get them. It was just a couple nurses sitting at a table. They told Brad he was going to have to hold her down for the shot, but both Brad and I said she would be fine and maybe only cry a minute. I think the nurses were expecting a big scene. So, when they gave her the shot, she just sat there and watched without even a little whine, they were so surprised and couldn't believe how good she did. Big Kid! 10/28/10

Lauren was playing with a backpack in church yesterday and another child wanted the backpack. The teacher told them that he could cut it in half so they could both have part. The other child liked the idea, but Lauren said no, she would let the other child have the bag. 10/24/10
